Presenter file not updating but PPT file gets updated

Feb 25, 2011

Hello,

I came across an issues similar to the one the user experienced in this post and wanted to know if there was an answer /reason why this is happening.   I thought the two files should share the same date modified info but my powerpoint file will be correct but the presenter file is using a much older date.  The good thing is the changes still seem to be captured in the powerpoint file.   Should I be concerned about this or is it something that can be safely ignored?

Hello Justin,

Thanks for the quick response.    It was my understanding that if you make changes to any of the engage activities that it would get embeded in the presenter file.     My concern is that when I package the file to give to another coworker to work on the file that they wont see the changes.    Well I guess I can live with it.   I just  find it strange that presenter works this way.

Hi Justin,

I tried the steps you suggested but for some reason it doesnt change the date modified stamp.    Unless it is updating and not changing the time stamp signature on the file.     I am happy it works but really won't know if there are any problems until I package it and someone else trys to modify the packaged files.  Thank you again for the quick response.

Hello Justin,

The only variable which may or may not be a factor is the fact that the file I was working on came from a packaged articulate project.  Perhaps the reason why it is not updating is because I was not the person who originally created the file.  I even tried on a different computer and still had the same results.   I thought it could be a corrupt install but that wasn't the case. Was the presentation you tested one you created or was it a presentation someone else created?

Can you send us this particular package so we can take a closer look? The presentation I worked on was one I created.

Please create an Articulate Presenter package, then upload the zip file to our server. You can review how to do this here:

Upload the resulting zip file from your computer to our server using this upload form:

Please be sure to include a description of your issue, your version of PowerPoint, version of Windows and version of Presenter '09 which you can find in Help and Support -> About Articulate Presenter. Please also include the URL for this thread so we can follow up with you in the forums.
