Publishing gets stuck while Creating master slides

Oct 17, 2012

Publishing goes through all the slides and then gets stuck while Creating slide master shapes and then goes into (Not responsive) state.

I have found several references to this problem and I have tried everything.

I have tried to convert shapes to images and even text too with the help of the Optimizemypreso macro.

Am I simply impatient?  It's a simple 37 page powerpoint file with some images.  How long should that take? I am running Windows 7 with Powerpoint 2010 and Presenter '09.

Any tips are welcome.

Hey George,

Just as a quick thing you can try if you haven't already, try creating a new powerpoint and simply copying and pasting the slides over to it. Recreate anything you are unable to copy over and see if that publishes for you. Sometimes a file will just get corrupt and nothing seems to do the trick until you move it into a new project file! Let me know if that helps or not.

Right on, Jon! George, do you happen to know if you are running Office 32bit or 64bit? 32bit is what will be needed to ensure total success. Similarly, is it possible to try publishing the presentation without any transitions or animations? This will reduce the amount of time required to publish the files for the package.

Hi Jon,

I just tried that several times but I keep losing the audio when the new file is created, i.e. the ppta doesn't connect with the new PPT file.  I copy and paste all slides into a new file and save it. Then rename the original to something else and rename the 'copied file' to the orginal ppt file.  When I do that, I lose the connection to the ppta.  Any suggestions? I first tried saving the copied file AS the original file and read that SAVING AS might lose the connection and then tryied the same in Windows Explorer.

Hi Dan, I know I am running Office 32bit on a 64bit version of Windows 7.  I started noticing this issue this summer when I switched to this environment and had found a post that Presenter 09 is not compatible with Windows 7 64bit.  I haven't found that note recently but I suspect this could be a reason for this.  Note that a very short presentation with no animations or pictures publishes fine.  I can't remove the animations.

Hey George, really sorry for the trouble. Just to be clear, there are no issues with 64-bit Windows, only 64-bit versions of Office

As far as getting your course published, this article outlines some things that may help.

Also, if you have a Dell or Lenovo computer, you may be experiencing a known conflict between SoundMax or Corel WinDVD and PowerPoint, which can cause the preview and publish features in Articulate Presenter to fail (in addition to recording narration, importing audio, syncing animations, and adding annotations). SoundMax and Corel WinDVD often come pre-installed on Dell and Lenovo computers. You will need to uninstall these programs to resolve the conflict they create with PowerPoint. Additional information on this issue can be found here:

If you have Avast antivirus installed, the publishing process may not complete. For more details on this issue, please see:
