Recording narration and other issues. Insane problems!

Jan 18, 2016

Here is a video that shows what is happening. While I can sometimes record even on this non-fully opening page, most times I cannot.

Also, the notes pane was formerly showing on the narration pane, but now I have to use a background fill in order for the text to show.

If you can help, please do. I'm frustrated to the max. Thanks.

Hi, Teresa --  My apologies if I am unclear, but as you mentioned that you have refreshed twice, does that mean you were able to run through the repair steps in the link above and did not find improvement? Here they are for your review:

Windows Vista or later
  1. Close PowerPoint and all Articulate programs.
  2. Locate your Studio installation file. If you can't find it, download it again, and save it to your computer. Use the download link in your product confirmation email, or click here.
  3. Right-click the installation file, and select Run as administrator.
  4. Select the option to Reinstall, and follow the prompts to complete the process.
  5. Reboot your computer.
Windows XP or earlier
  1. Close PowerPoint and all Articulate programs.
  2. Locate your Studio installation file. If you can't find it, download it again, and save it to your computer. Use the download link in your product confirmation email, or click here.
  3. Double-click the installation file.
  4. Select the option to Reinstall, and follow the prompts to complete the process.
  5. Reboot your computer.

And if you would like to share your Articulate package here in the thread, all you would need to do is click here to ensure that you are in the thread itself, and then you can click on the ADD ATTACHMENT button in the bottom left of the reply box. You can then browse for your file and upload from there.

Hi, Teresa -- Thanks for confirming that you ran through the repair steps outlined! I did want to note that I did a search in our Support ticketing system, and I see that you are working with our Engineer, Karla, on your case, #00727247. I will be sure to following along with her progress on your case and intend to share relevant updates here in the thread for others who may be following along. :)

UPDATE for anyone following along with this thread. Please see the most recent update on Teresa's case below and we will be sure to share any final resolution that is reached:

Thanks for contacting Articulate Support!  Are you having the issue with a specific presentation? Please create a new presentation and try to replicate the issue.

When creating, editing, and publishing Articulate Presenter '13 courses, be sure you're working on your local hard drive (typically your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, such as file corruption, an inability to save changes, and loss of resources. See this article for more information:
http://www.articulate.com/support/kb_article.php?product=ap13&id=adudnsy7h9aw

If you're already working on a local C: drive, please follow the steps below and see if it fixes the issue that you're having.  The Articulate project.log file is accessed every time a presentation is modified or published. If there is a problem with this log file, Presenter may not respond properly. It's easy to regenerate. Here's how:

1. Close PowerPoint.
2. Navigate to Start > Run in Windows XP or Start > All Programs > Accessories > Run in Windows Vista / 7.
3. Type %appdata%\Articulate\Presenter\Project into the Run dialog, and click OK.
4. In the window that opens, locate the project.log file, and rename it to project.log.bak.
5. Then launch your PowerPoint presentation, and attempt to import audio or record narration again. (Articulate will generate a new project.log file the next time you edit or publish a presentation.)  Please do let me know how it goes.
