Studio 13 Hidden Slide Titles

Nov 25, 2013

When a slide is visible, the title for that slide shows up under the Notes Tab properly. When a slide is hidden, that same title now shows up with missing letters. For example, the title "Objection #6" shows up fine as the title in the Notes section when the slide is visible. But when that slide is hidden, the title in the Notes section shows up as "bection 6". It is missing the "O" and the "j" and the "#".

The first letter is almost always missing from the title and some others letters may or may not appear. I have tried "resetting" the menu list and starting over. This does not help. I have tried placing an extra space before the title within the menu. This does not help either.

I am running the latest update of '13.

Thanks for any help you can provide! I want the slides hidden, but I want to show the correct title in the Notes section.

p.s. This is a course that was converted from '09 to '13. I do not know if this is related or not but I do tend to run into more issues with converted courses.

Hi Keith,

I tested this in a file created in Presenter 13, and the notes title's still appeared within that section even if they were removed from the menu. I also tested this on a file created in Presenter 09 and updated to Presenter 13, and still the slide titles appeared correctly within the Notes view. Did this behavior happen before or after installing the latest update? If it's new after the latest update, I'd suggest conducting a repair to ensure that nothing odd happened during the install.  Are you able to create a Presenter package of your files and share with us here? If you'd prefer to share privately you're also welcome to share here.

Hi Ashley!

Due to project deadlines, we tried several more things and then we were forced to place a "space" as the title within the menu so that a blank title showed up under the Notes tab rather than a word with missing letters.

We are doing a number of '09 to '13 conversions and it works pretty darn good but we do into these two problems:

1) hyperlink boxes do not appear to work the same in '13 as in '09. For example, if a hyperlinked object is covered temporarily by another object and then it is removed, the hyperlinking disappears. Also, shadows on adjacent objects can affect hyperlinking. In many of our tested-and-working '09 courses we have had to rework the objects/adjacent objects to get the hyperlinking to work. This is consistent.

2) Notes titles associated with hidden slides sometimes show up with letters missing. This is not consistent.

Hi Keith,

Thanks for the update, and I'm glad that you were able to find a workaround that you could use.

In regards to the hyperlinking, I haven't seen this scenario with the objects, but there is a known issue with upgrading projects that continue hyperlinks to other parts of the project. Is that what your hyperlinked objects are pointing to? Also, you mentioned shadows - are the shadows on grouped objects? That is something we've reported to our QA team.

For the notes, do you have a copy of one of the Presenter files with the odd notes behavior still? If so, please send it along to our team so that we can do some additional testing.
