SWF embedded files changing player size

Jun 08, 2012

I have a course built in presenter 09 in which I have inserted a flash movie (swf).  It plays AMAZINGLY on my computer in both preview mode as well as when published to the web and viewed on my computer for testing purposes.

However, once the file is published via LMS with SCROM 1.2. and viewed. the slide with the flash movie changes the overall size of the course player and shinks it up to the upper left hand side.  This new unwanted size is then applied to the entire course.  I thought maybe it had something to do with the .swf size and I republished that slide alone using the slide only view - however it repeats the issue.  I am not sure what else to try as it works appropriately on my computer.  We are uploading the file to Sumtotal.   I have also tried viewing the published LMS file not uploaded and it also experiences issues as my navigation buttons at the bottom disappear and you can no longer navigate the course.

The issue seems to be the the LMS publishing and the .swf so any help on this would be great as I'd prefer not to have to remove the .swf from the course.

Thanks so much!

Hi Colleen,

Out of curiosity, is your video interactive? Have you tried publishing it as a FLV to see if it plays back properly that way? Any chance you can share a link so we can see what you're experiencing?

You may also want to take a look at our Flash movie best practices just to ensure the video itself is not the issue. Thanks!

It's actually not a video.  It is a graphic of a map that has pop-up windows with images for particular countries.  It was created in Snag-it Editor (images with hot spots) and saved as a .swf.

I have tried synchonizing and playing it independent - synchonizing doesn't work at all.  I don't have a link to share unfortunately but here is a screenshot of what I am experiencing when the navigation disappears.  I have to reload it to the LMS to recreate the other issue and will send that pic shortly.

Thanks for the screenshot, Colleen. If you'd like, you can send us your files for us to try and replicate the issue. Just create an Articulate Presenter package, then upload the zip file to our server. You can review how to do this here:

Send to Articulate Presenter Package – Articulate Presenter ’09 Help

Upload the resulting zip file from your computer to our server using this upload form:
