Text shrinks upon preview

Jul 30, 2014

I had the issue where republishing in '13 caused pink gradient coloring behind a text box. I solved that issue by recreating the text box to remove any hidden formatting, but that revealed a new issue. The color was gone, but the text shrinks upon preview. On the ppt slide everything is the same size.

The "shrink text on overflow" option was not checked, so I began experimenting. I found out that it is being caused by an apostrophe. When the apostrophe is typed, the text shrinks, with it removed, everything is fine. Even more strange is that I can only reproduce it when the typeface choice is Myriad Pro. If I change it to another style, the sizing works.

Anybody seen this before?

Thanks Justin. Unfortunately I can not reproduce it either.

I had apostrophes causing the color gradient issue throughout the presentation, but it was only affecting the one text box differently with shrunken text. After closing the presentation and reopening it, the apostrophe causes the reproducible issue of the color gradient on that text box as well, and no longer shrinks the text. Strange it is, but I have a current workaround to avoid the color. I outlined my "solution" to other users here:

Justin, I just wanted to say that I ran into the shrinking text issue once again.

I had a presentation that showed no other buggy signs than one text box that would shrink upon preview/publish. The color-gradient issue was not present anywhere. This time, however, the shrinking text was caused by a bullet point (one typed with ALT+0149). I closed the presentation and after reopening, the issue went away. I don't know how to reproduce this quirk, but wanted to let you know that it was more than a one-time thing.
