Unable to save audio using Presenter

Apr 15, 2013

Hello,

I'm using our corporate PowerPoint template and Presenter to create a simple demo of an online course. I have been unable to successfully save audio to any slides in the deck (I've tried recording the audio using the editor and I've also tried importing audio files.)

I know that others have had this issue as well and I've tried all the workarounds suggested in these forums. I should also note that I've been able to add audio to the same presentation using Storyline.

I'm wondering is there is something built into our corporate deck that might be affecting the add-in that enables audio to work correctly.  Would one of the expert team have a few minutes to look at our file?

thank you,

Welcome to E-Learning Heroes, Jim!

Are you working with local project files and local audio files?

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names.

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.

If you are working locally, try creating a new Presenter course and insert an audio file into that presentation. Does the same thing happen? If not, it may very well be an issue with the corporate template you're using. If the new file doesn't play the audio, it may be a problem with the installation of the software, or possibly an audio issue on the machine. Are you able to play the audio files externally (outside of PowerPoint)?
Thanks!
Christine
