Upgrade and license management questions
Jan 13, 2015
Hi all,
My organization has a large number of Studio licenses across multiple locations. None of the users have 'administrative access' due to security regulations. This means that whenever there is an update we have to send someone from IS to do the install on each computer. This is a resource intensive and expensive process. Many of our other programs allow us to package and distribute updates over our network; that does not seem possible with Articulate. With this as precursor, I have two questions for the community:
1. Is there a way to do updates on 'locked down' systems without sending out someone with administrative access?
2. If not, how are other organizations with multiple sites dealing with this issue?
Thanks!
Barry

Hello Barry,
You do need administrative privileges to install Studio and any updates. If it is not something your IT department can make adjustments to, i am sure others on here may be able offer some suggestions.
Hi, actually my question is about Studio, but I think it's the same situation. The users are located in about 20 different locations over a dozen counties. Getting a tech to each of the users takes a lot of time and effort (over 50 licenses to manage!).
From my experience with Articulate, the software makes it easy for the individual user (consultant?) to install and manage his or her own copy. However, many corporate environments require a more centralized control and maintainance process. Most of our other commonly used tools can be managed and updated online which makes things a lot easier when dealing with many users and installs. Our IS group can package any changes and push them out to users all at once. Perhaps Articulate might look into other license arranagements or management options for large corporate groups.
In the meantime, IS is looking for alternative ways to adjust and I'm looking for ideas of best practices from others in the same situation! :-)
thanks! bj
Hello Barry!
Yes it is the same setup with all of Articulate products as far as needing the privileges for installation. You may want to reach out to the sales team to see if they may offer any solutions.
thanks! I contacted them yesterday and we're talking. Nonetheless I figure I'm not the first person to face this and wanted to tap the expertiese of the user community too!
