Video Clip Not Playing
Oct 25, 2012
I have a video clip that I need to use in one of my slides. As a .wmv file, it plays perfectly in PowerPoint, but is just a still shot (doesn’t play) once I publish in Articulate. So, I converted it to the three formats that are compatible with Articulate (.swf, .flv, and mp4), but they either don’t play in PowerPoint (nor Articulate), or they give me this error message when I try to insert them into PowerPoint:
“PowerPoint cannot insert a video from the selected file. Verify that the necessary codec for this media format is installed, and then try again.”
So I am stuck.

Hi Barbara,
Welcome to the forum. What version of PowerPoint are you using? If you are using PowerPoint 2010, try saving the PPT as a 2007 (.ppt) file. I realize that saving into 2007 negates a bunch of the benefits of what we-all paid for in 2010, but it's a workaround at least.

Hi Andy,
Thanks much for your reply and suggested workaround. I think I just figured out what was wrong. I have been trying to insert the file into PPT vs inserting it through Articulate. No wonder .flv was not recognized as a video type in PPT!
I think this should work. Thanks again for your reply.
