I am trying to insert a istockphoto .fla video file into my powerpoint slide. Articulate says it supports .fla files. But when I go to import, I get the message "Powerpoint cannot insert a video from the selected file. Verify that the necessary codec for this media format is installed and try again.
Articulate supports SWF, FLV, and MP4. You would need to open that file in Flash and convert it to a supported format using this article as a guideline:
Just read my illiterate last entry. You got the jist.
Anyhow, if I can find something to convert the flv file to a swf file, then I could crop it in the Video Encoder and place that file in the ppt/articulate slide?
Next question: I used went to use zamzar. It won't convert the flv file to swf (the other file I can use in Articulate). I'm still scratching my head on this one.
Format factory will also let you convert the .flv to other formats. The challenge with converting from one format to another is that there's always some degradation. Here's an older link on how to edit .flv files.

Okay, I figured out part of this. I imported the video through Articulate and it works that way. Am I missing something else?
Thanks.
Here's a tutorial that should help:

fla? or flv? articulate will import flv files normally,
Phil
Right. It is flv file that I have! I also want to crop it, but it won't open in the video encoder will not open it.
The Video Encoder only converts video to FLV. If you wanted to edit the FLV you would probably have to find a different tool.
You need to open it in flash and publish

zamzar should convert it to whatever you want

Thank you for the download info! That's helpful.

convert it to an mp4 which you can import, quicktime/wmv which cn then be converted (not ideal)
