When good courses go bad

Jan 19, 2012

I am working on a course that has developed what seems to be a PowerPoint bug.  Clicking "Slide Show" on the PP 2010 status bar opens the "Reading View" instead.  Worse, the mouse will not click through animations.  This slows down my ability to test animations before going to the much slower Articulate slide animation pane.

It seems like something is wrong with the PP file.  Making a copy, I can delete all slides, add a new slide, and the problem will persist.  The only solution seems to be to move all the slides to a new pptx file.  Exporting the audio, importing the audio in the new pptx.  We're back on track except... the retiming of all the animations is missing.  That is a lot of work to retime all the slides.

Anyone else experience this problem and is there a better workaround?

I tracked down this nasty problem, so I'm posting resolution for posterity.  It appears that if Articulate crashes while synchronizing animations, a "slide show" / "setup slide show" option can be erroneously set, then it is never reset.  Just reset the option manually, and off you go.

The option shown below, "Presented by a speaker (full screen)" is the correct option.  "Browsed by an individual" seems to be selected by Articulate during synchronization, then reset (my best guess anyway).
