Major Issue with Quizmaker '09

Feb 14, 2013

I'm having a major issue with Quizmaker '09.

1. I select my first question (graded), select the type, it begins to launch then disapears.  After about the 3rd time the selection sticks and I can begin creating the quiz. After I get the first question in this only happens periodically.

2.  I get about 3-4 questions into the creation of the quiz and I get an error message that the program has encountered a problem and needs to close with the option to debug.  I hit debug and the entire quiz is gone.

3.  I start saving after I create each question.  About 4 or 5 questions in I get the error again. I hit debug and the entire quiz is gone. I try to retrieve the quiz and I get the error message only this time there is no debug option.

I have reinstalled the program 3 times and have not been able to get to the point where I can finalize or publish a quiz.  Any clues as to what is going on?

Welcome to the community, Julie!

And I'm sorry to hear you're having so much trouble with Quizmaker. My first thought, is that maybe you're trying to use Quizmaker on a network drive? Here are some tips for managing your files which can help prevent issues.

1.  Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.

2. You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).

3.  Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names.

Hi,

I'm having the same problems-  with quizzes that are 100+ questions. I have had to rebuild the same exam twice and it froze up/ crashed both times! My IT dept has done everything Articulate has told us to do- no luck.  We have uninstalled - reinstalled twice, re installed plug ins, adobe flash etc...I've sent them the files and the error messages and havent heard back yet.

Its extremely frustrating; as I am incredibly busy and havetight  deadlines. Hopefully I'll hear back today.
