Quiz properties not updating
Jun 29, 2011
Greetings,
I am trying to update quiz properties and having no success.
The specific item I am trying to change is the point value for questions. Although the quiz shows the proper value in the properties dialog box (1), the point value does not change when I preview the quiz(10), nor does it display correctly in the preview image in the PPT page.
To address the 1st question I suspect anyone will have, I do believe I am editing the correct quiz. All items (PPT./quiz/articulate file) are in the same subdirectory. As a test I did the following:
- in PPT I selected the quiz by clicking "edit in Quizmaker"
- I added garbage text into the first question
- I saved and returned to PPT
- The fresh garbage text appeared on the preview image and when I preview the quiz.
I have tried to update/preview directly in quizmaker and still see 10 points per question. Any suggestions on how to discipline this unruly quizmaker?

Hi Richard & welcome to Heroes,
If you have published a Quizmaker quiz into your Presenter presentation and then you made a change to the quiz that is not reflected in your published presentation, it is likely you need to update your Presentation Options. Here's how:

If you continue to have issues, make sure that your Communicator add-in is enabled:

If you still have issues, you can try the method below to resolve the issue:
1. Go to the slide that contains your quiz and delete the slide
2. Publish your presentation to the Web
3. Close PowerPoint
The steps above will regenerate your PPTA file.
4. Reopen PowerPoint
5. Republish your quiz to the presentation
6. Republish your presentation
If you still have issues after that, please submit a support case to us by using the link below:

Brian,
Thank you. I can see this is going to be a happy happy joy joy morning.
Everything is and was enabled but I am running PPT 2010 with a Win 7/64 bit version.
Sigh.
Do you know if downgrading to a 2007 version of PPT will fix the problem?
(this may also explain several other issues I have been having with the Sync Narration tool).
Richard
Did you try the method of removing the quiz, publishing the presentation, closing PowerPoint, and then republishing the quiz to your presentation?
Brian,
Yep. Per your advice, I removed the quiz, published the preso, then closed ppt. I then readded the quiz (that is I opened the Articulate tab, clicked on the Quizmaker button, and added an existing quiz) but still see the old point value.
It may be of note that the ONLY thing that is not updating is the point value of the questions. I have been able to change text in the question, save and then instantly see the updated text on the quizmaker thumbnail that is displayed in PPT. Font size changes display correctly, font color changes display correctly,
It may also be of note that I have a system that matches in every respect the system of another developer (that is Win7/64 + PPT 2010). So far, I have been the only one blessed with these exciting new behaviors
Any chance that the point value of questions is hidden somewhere else? I.e. the title of the quiz seems to exist in a few different places.
Thanks for your help.
Richard

Brian,
I just submitted a screen recording of the point values not updating while the text content and color does. I also pointed to this discussion for more detailed info.
I will keep my fingers crossed. Thanks for your help.
Richard
Brian, (and anyone else who may have wandered into this thread),
After I opened the ticket, I figured it out. (I have requested the ticket be closed).
The global quiz property does not change the global point value of the individual questions in the quiz.
In order to change point values, you need to go to each individual question, then click in the "points" entry, which is NOT just a display box, but actually allows adjustment!
Sigh.
