Quizmaker '13 templates--creating to use again and again

Jul 29, 2014

I think I'm missing something really easy. I created a Quizmaker '13 template (file...save as....quizmaker template), so I could use it over and over and not have to adjust the font style, font sizes, master slide layouts, color, etc. for each course I'm creating for a specific customer. (probably around 20 or more)

When I create new quiz using the template, the filename stays to what I named the template and it isn't a quizmaker file, its a template file. I thought it would open as something like quizmaker1, like Microsoft word does.

What am I missing to make a quizmaker '13 template work like a true template file that I can do all my settings in the template and save as a template, then when I want to create a new quiz, use the template to not have to change all the settings but have it be a new quizmaker file?

Hi Larena!

If you receive a template from another developer, save it to your local hard drive. When you're ready to use a template you received or one that you created previously, do the following:

  1. Open Quizmaker.
  2. At the launch screen, click From quiz template.
  3. Browse to the template you want to use, and click Open.

A brand new quiz gets created with all the settings and content from the template.

This information can be found in this tutorial.

Thank you for your responses, the link to the tutorial showed other options I was not aware of.

I don't think I was clear in my question. I was asking why a new quiz created from a template, doesn't open as untitled.quiz (like word, powerpoint, etc.), but keeps the name of the template I used to create the new quiz. I will just make sure I'm very careful when I click save, to rename the file appropriately.

Hi Larena!

I understand what you are describing now. If you are saving the items as .quiztemplate files as you should, this should not cause issue.

When you start a new quiz file from scratch, the default name is Untitled1* and indicates that it has not been saved.

When you start a new quiz and choose the appropriate template, let's say that is worklogo.quiztemplate. When I start the file, it will default to worklogo* as a .quiz file, which still indicates that it is unsaved and will not go over my template as the file type is different.

Yes, Save As and saving appropriately is always important when beginning a new file though
