A/B video audio tracks play when not active

Oct 15, 2013

I have A and B video tracks which both have audio and I am using the Mix feature to switch from A to B.  The audio on both tracks continues to play when the video is not active so both audio tracks are playing all the time.

Is the way it should behave?  I would have thought the A track audio would have been dominant like the video is and the B audio would only become active with the B video.

Hi Brent! Actually, it is by design to allow both audios to play at the same time.

Adding video mixes

To add a video mix, do the following:

  1. Click the timeline at the point where you want to add a video mix. The playhead (red vertical line) will move to that point on the timeline.
  2. Click any of the four mix buttons below the video stage.
    • A+B: This is a picture-in-picture mix that fills the stage with content from track A and also displays content from track B in the corner of the stage.
    • A: Mix A fills the stage with content from track A. Content in track B won't be displayed (though audio from track B will still be heard).
    • B: Mix B fills the stage with content from track B. Content in track A won't be displayed (though audio from track A will still be heard).
    • B+A: This is a picture-in-picture mix that fills the stage with content from track B and also displays content from track A in the corner of the stage.
