Pop-up window not showing when recording with Replay

Apr 20, 2015

I am trying to make a simple demo of how spoofing in emails works. I sent myself an email with a hyperlink to a false email address, and I want to record floating the cursor over the link to display that the email address is spoofed (fake). However, when I start the Replay recording and float the cursor over the email address (in the actual Outlook email), the pop-up does not appear. Is there some way to capture this? Without it, the Replay screen capture is pretty useless.

Hi Tom!

I hope I understand what you are reporting here. I just tested this in Replay and this works for me. I utilized my e-mail and when I hover over addresses, the pop up for the contact pops up, which is similar to what you are trying to do, right?

Is the window active when you are doing your screen recording in Replay?

If you are having difficulty with Replay, you may need to conduct a repair.

Almost. I am hovering over a hyperlink in the text of the email. It is a link to a fake email address, and when I hover over it, the true email address should be displayed in a small box above it. See the attached static screen shot. I wanted to add Replay to it, so that people could see it appear when the cursor is in the right spot.

I opened the email, then Replay, and shaped the recording area where I wanted it, so I guess the window is active. If there's something else I need to do to make it active, let me know.

Hi Tom!

I do not use Outlook, but my Gmail works just the same as when Replay is not recording it. The actual hyperlink displays in the bottom left of the window and still appears when I hover when recording in Replay.

Have you tried recording in any other environment?

Please be sure that you are working locally and if you are having issues in general, I would advise a repair.

This is the only issue. As you noted, the true address does appear at the bottom of the screen in Gmail (and also in Hotmail), but this requires a very large area of capture and is not easy to see since it is so small and out of the field of view. I prefer the way it appears directly over the fake address in Outlook, and Replay does not seem to be able to capture Outlook's pop-up.

In addition the resolution of the mp4 file is very poor. Is there a setting for that in Replay?
