Hi everyone, I noticed that using Articulate 360 the preview renders quite differently in comparison with Storyline 2. Published result is OK, but the preview looks very blurry. Plus, it does not even start if I use certain fonts. Namely, if I use Universe Condensed Bold the preview launches, but keeps loading indefinitely. Finally, I have some random error on font rendering, particularly when using accented letters. Am I the only one experiencing this odd behaviour? I have never seen those problems with SL2.
My entire project looks really blurry, even when I publish and am view in Articulate 360 review pane. Used the same skin/Images in Storyline 2 and never experienced this.
Hi Casey - I just took a peek and I do not see where Dario submitted a support case to us, so I have no update to provide on this issue. Would you be able to share the SL2 version of a course you are having difficulty with and allow us to compare?
Hi, Leslie, sorry I missed your reply, I will submit the file as soon as possible. By the way, I can see improvements in that regard after installing the last 360 update. I still have issues with Univers font family, by the way.
I have a similar font issue. Chalkduster displays correctly in edit mode, but in preview and published to 360 it renders in a font that looks like Times New Roman. It displayed correctly in the previous SL2 file.
Thanks for sharing that font issue here. I also tested the Chalkduster font and found that the font displayed like Times New Roman in Preview. Keep in mind that Preview in Storyline 360 displays HTML5 content.
I'll report the issue with the Chalkduster font in HTML5 to our Quality Assurance team. Although I can't offer a timeframe for a solution, I'll post updates here as they are available. In the mean time, I would suggest publishing with Flash, if that is an option for you.
Thanks for the workaround! It looks like that means Articulate Review also renders in the HTML5 mode (since when publishing to 360 it looks like it is HTML5 with Flash Fallback already)
HTML5/Flash fallback is the default option, but you can change it to Flash/HTML5 or Flash Only in the Publishing window. Here are instructions on how to do that. You can do this for any kind of publishing - Articulate Review, Web, LMS, and so on.
I have the same problem - just posted about it. My entire project looks blurry - even just opening the 360 file, the text and interface looks soft. I just submitted a case about this with some samples.
My issue sounds similar to Natalie's. I have been using 360 on a larger monitor and thought things were fine. However. when I had to use solely on my laptop the quality is very poor/blurry for the entire program. My resolution is on the recommended setting and other programs are clear.
Thanks for sharing that screenshot with us. Since you're seeing bluriness throughout the entire Storyline 360 user interface (not just in Preview or after publishing), this could be system-specific. Can you first confirm that your system meets the requirements listed here?
If your system requirements are good to go and you're still seeing bluriness, I would recommend reaching out to our Support Engineers for further troubleshooting. Let me know your case number if you decide to open a case, and I'll follow along as well!
Seems to be if you change your Story Size Setup after creating the slides then everything is messed up and blurry from that point on.
Reading through the forums and hearing others with the same complaint from years back, the advice seems to be start again from scratch at the new size.
Hello Andrew - We certainly do advise to choose your Story Size prior to building content to prevent any shifting or scaling. There are some settings that may be able to assist you that will allow you to adjust the story size, but only filling the background (which will not resize your slide content). Check out this tutorial.
Hey there, I came to the forum after reliazing that the preview of my project is also blurry. I have even thought of using bolded font throught the project but it doesnt look very good. I have used a bigger screen before and the previews were great, but on a laptop the preview is blurry. what I am not sure about is what will happen to the look of the project after publishing.
Would anyone who had the same problem and published his/her project, share his/her experience on how the project looks after publishing.
Our team is aware that this is causing some preview issues and is related to our solution implemented for High DPI viewing in addition to the preview no longer being Flash, but Chromium/HTML5.
We are tracking this though, and I will add this thread to the report for both user awareness and update when applicable.
Feel free to publish to take a peek and hopefully others will chime in to share as well.
Yes, the issue is only while previewing - so although that's not ideal for editing you can rest knowing that your published content wont' appear blurry.
Our team is still keeping an eye on this, and we have some other items connected to this and how we modified our DPI/high resolution scaling behavior. I don't have any updates or ETAs around this issue, but as soon as we have more info to share we'll be sure to include it in this discussion.
I’m four days inro 360 trial and liking it except for this same issue of blurriness. I take comfort in your assurance that the published content will turn out right. Nevertheless is there any recent development?
while on your trial you can publish your files and view the output yourself so you know exactly what you'll get. Good luck with 360 - it's a great suite of products!
Hi, I'm experiencing this issue testing FullHD screen is okey. But, when I switched to HD screen, this issue is still there (only this project).
In other options, I don't choose scale player and tick lock player, this issue was no blurry. However, this product using for many screen (Ipad, laptop) so lock player is best solution.
It sounds like you've figured out what's occurring with your course? If not, and you're still stuck can you share a bit more detail or examples/screenshots of what you're seeing? It would also help to know more about what version/update of Storyline you're using, where you're viewing your published output, etc.

Hi Dario!
Would you be able to share your .story file here so that we could take a look?
I experienced the same thing, Dario!

If you publish using the Flash/HTML5 backup option, the font displays as expected. Here is a link to the Flash output.

Hey Natalie - thanks for letting us know that you reached out to the support team on this one (00990817). You should be hearing from someone soon.

Thank you for the response Alyssa. I will look into the system requirements.
My system meets all requirements. I played around with scaling and changed from 200% to 150% and that seems to help.
That's good to hear, Julie. And if you'd like more help with this, please do feel free to reach out to the support team for further assistance!

Hi, I'm experiencing this same issue using my laptop (as has my colleague).
It is only when previewing. We have been using Storyline 2 with no blurring issues and have decided to trial 360.
Is there a resolution to this?
Thanks
David
