Accessibility on Mobile/Tablet HTML5

Jun 16, 2014

Hi,

I've been doing some research for a client and it seems that Storyline can not publish courses that are 508 compliant for mobile/tablet using HTML5. At least that's what various post and Articulate documents seem to indicate. Is that correct?

If so what are the alternatives? How can Storyline course be made 508 compliant for mobile/tablet published in HTML5? Can the HTML files be manually edited to comply? Would that work?

Please let me know.

Thanks!

Hi Will,

As documented here by Articulate:

Articulate Storyline’s Flash-based output is Section 508 compliant, including support for:

  • JAWS readers
  • Full keyboard navigation
  • Visible focus indicator
  • Video subtitles using timed text boxes
  • Slide transcripts using the Notes tab

To view Storyline's Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT), click here.

Note: Content published for HTML5 and the Articulate Mobile Player isn't Section 508 compliant.

I hope that if someone in the community has determined a method for HTML5 accessibility they're able to share it with you here.
