I know that I can add a seekbar to a video. However, this doesn't show the length of the video. Is there an option to display the total time length of the video, along with the progress?
Try enabling the Show Video Controls setting. This will add a separate playbar to the video, so learners can play, pause, rewind, and fast forward it. They'll also see a video timer in the playbar.
Ah, I see. So, it appear that I need to first publish the project as a video. Then, import the published video into a new project and then, add the controls with the Show Video Controls options, correct?
I have a project that I have built with audio, slides, and animations. I am producing it as an MP4 video. I want to add the length of the video to the startup screen/page somehow, so the student knows the length of the video before they click the Play button (just so they know they have enough time to finish it in the same sitting). I was thinking of the time/seekbar, but you can only add that to an actual video... so, I am thinking that i need to publish the project as a video, then, put it back in to SL to add the video controls.
Thanks for the quick responses, Alyssa. The customer that I am creating for will be hosting them as MP4 on their LMS. This one doesn't have quiz portion, just viewing the video.
Makes sense, Dave. If you host the video directly on the LMS, you should see a play bar at the bottom by default. No need to re-import it back into Storyline and publish again.
Give it a try, and let me know if it works for you!
yes, I assumed that would be the case, as most LMSs do that. However, they wanted something to show up before the video started. Also, it appears that my idea didn't work. When I tried, the publish starts and crashes about halfway through. Oh well, it was worth the try. Thanks again for your help.
What kind of thing did they want to display before the video starts?
Also, I'm really sorry the publish process crashed on you! That definitely shouldn't be happening. Are you on the latest update of Storyline 360? To check, click the Help tab, then click About Storyline. You should see 3.17.16188.0 in the bottom-right corner.
The customer decide to just have the LMS display the seek bar, as I discussed earlier with him. Also, it appears that my SL version is older (v3.1315006). I would have thought that it would perform automatic updates. So, I guess I need to figure out how the updates work.

Hi there Dave!
Try enabling the Show Video Controls setting. This will add a separate playbar to the video, so learners can play, pause, rewind, and fast forward it. They'll also see a video timer in the playbar.
Hope that helps!

Hey Dave,
I think I may have misunderstood your original question. Can you tell me more about what you're looking to do?
Do you have a MP4 video file that you want to import into Storyline?

Oh, I see! Thanks for those extra details.
I have a few ideas brewing in my head for how you could achieve this. Can you help me with a few more things?

That is an older version! We've done quite a few bug fixes and new features since then. Follow these steps to install the latest update to you computer.
Perfect! Thanks for the help!
