Hi. I think I have seen this answer before, but I cannot find it now. How can I enable the user to type her/his name so that the name can be used throughout the course? For example, I want my characters to be able to say things to the actual learner like "What do you think, Jason?"
Here's a tutorial on how to personalise your course doing just that, i.e enabling the learner to enter their name and then referencing it later in the course.
To begin with, you will need to add a text data entry input field, where the user will input their name; click on the Insert tab at the top of the screen, click on Data Entry and select Text from the dropdown. You can now 'draw' your text entry field on the screen.
Text and Numeric entry fields automatically create a variable so to 'call' the user's entry from the previous screen and use it elsewhere in your course, you can add a reference to this variable.
I attach a VERY rough example which will hopefully explain the above.
Also, if you use PeopleSoft ELM as your LMS, here's a tutorial that shows how you can have the course 'grab' the user's name from the LMS and 'pop' it into your course as needed. Enjoy!

Simon and Antony - you guys are fantastic...and fast! Thank you!
Brenda - you, too, are fantastic, yet I don't use PeopleSoft ELM. Thanks for the suggestion.
