Adding an author signature in Storyline

Jan 21, 2013

Hi,

I'm a new member of a course development team in our company using this wonderful software. I'd like to know if it has the capability to add the author's signature on the presentation. This is for our superiors to know and acknowledge who created which presentation, and also to avoid having our presentation "stolen". If it has, how do I add my digital signature? If it doesn't, are there alternatives to "lock" our work and have it tagged as "ours"?

Thanks!

Hi Marlowe. Welcome to the community! Happy to have you here

First, I want to take a minute to explain that the only way a course can be modified, is if the actual project's .STORY file is shared. If someone else gets access to your published output, they won't be able to edit the course. As long as you posses the project file, and don't share the file, there shouldn't be an issue with others taking credit for the course.

As far as "tagging" your work with your name, you may not be able to accomplish this in the same manner, but you can customize the content if you want to display your name throughout the course. You could simply add a title to your course that contains your name; "This presentation brought to you by Marlowe", for example. Or, if you want this to be shown within the course, itself, you could use the Slide Master and insert a statement on the slide that states that this course is your property.

I'm sure there are some pretty creative ways to do this, probably more elegant than my suggestions, too. I'm sure some of our other awesomely talented community members have found some tricks to do something similar.

Good luck with the project Marlowe.

Thanks!

I just completed a storyline project for a colleague who just left our team. After completing the project I uploaded it to Articulate online.  Running the lesson on the Ipad using Articulates Mobile player I selected the lesson from the library pane, the lessons' start page appeared,  but below it was my colleagues' name as Author ....and Duration: 5 minutes. The lesson is actually about 20 mins. long.   How do I modify this area?  I see some sample lessons in the mobile player that also show the lesson description.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Leslie,

Your colleague probably already had these as default settings within the course, this article describes where to change them prior to publishing and for the duration, if your colleague had it set to "Custom" they would have been able to put the time in instead of "Calculate automatically" which should give you the correct duration of 20 minutes.

Hope that helps!

Hi

We need to have student sign their name before they can commence a Storyline course. I think the only was is to create a Text Entry Question slide and include javascript so the user can upload an image to the textbox.

Using the technology http://jsfiddle.net/vacidesign/ja0tyj0f/ what steps would be used in Storyline?
