I have been trying to add video to a storyline project and the video will not even load into the project. The video is in both FLV and MP4 and neither of these will work. Does anyone have any advice? I realise it could be the videos themselves. I have it saved on my desktop as a MP4 (well actually it says MPEG-4, is that the same thing?). Any advice /help will be greatly appreciated!
Hi, Christian -- Sorry to hear that you are having trouble, but there are a few things we can run through first to rule out some common issues. As I do not know how familiar you are with SL2, could you please confirm that you are following the steps outlined here for Adding Videos?
In addition, please make sure you are working locally as described here, and you may want to try importing the file into a new file. If you are still having issues, you might want to try to repair Storyline. Also, could you please ensure that you are utilizing the most recent SL2 Update? Info on Update 5 can be found here.
And to answer your question on the difference between an MP4 and an MPEG-4, here is one explanation I found:
MPEG-4 is a method of defining compression of audio and visual digital data. MPEG-4 can be used for compression of AV data for web, as used for streaming media, for CD distribution, as well as for voice broadcast television applications. The MP4 is a container format. This means that it can be used to store audio and/or video data.
If issues persist, feel free to share your .mp4 here and I will attempt to load it into a sample SL2 file on my end and test whether or not I see the same behavior.

The one thing that did work was importing the video to powerpoint then importing this in to the new SL file. But as mentioned trying to import the video directly to SL did not work.
I have attached the mp4 file and would really appreciate if you can see if the same thing happens at your end.
