AICC Course Update No Longer Loads Properly

We have a course built in Articulate Storyline published using AICC. It has worked flawlessly for two years. We needed to update a single screen's content in December; no triggers or other parts were changes, just text on screen and a link to an external resource. When we republished and loaded to our LMS, the navigation frame will load, but not the content. We're at a loss for what the problem may be. We did notice that a recent update of Storyline reduced the number of AICC files and read this was done to streamline the output; but we're left wondering if this also introduced the issue we are seeing.
(Note that because the course includes a considerable amount of internal tracking that wouldn't properly bookmark using SCORM, our options seem to be to figure out the AICC issue (no luck in 3 months) or break the course into multiple SCOs and use SCORM.)

Sorry to hear that you ran into this snag.
I'd recommend testing your course in SCORM Cloud first, so we can isolate if the issue is specific to your LMS, or if it happens regardless of which hosting environment is used.
If you are able to replicate the behavior in SCORM Cloud, would you be willing to share a copy of your project file here or in private by opening a support case so we can take a closer look at what's happening? We'll delete it when we're done testing!
Additionally, if you prefer to troubleshoot the course on your end, you can enable your course's LMS debug logs so you can get a better understanding of what's being communicated to the LMS at the moment that the issue is encountered.
