Allowing students to input javascript and see the results

Aug 09, 2016

Hello,

I have an instructor who would like Storyline to perform just like this: http://www.w3schools.com/js/tryit.asp?filename=tryjs_default

He wants students to input javascript code into a Storyline slide during a presentation as a quiz, have backend javascript check their code, and show them the results, and have the quiz report to the LMS.

From everything I've read and what our own people who have looked into this have said, it doesn't seem like this is how javascript is intended to perform in Storyline. It's simply an additional way of adding some interactive elements, but won't actually allow us to create an input screen for accepting and checking javascript.

Am I wrong? Is there a way to make Storyline do this?

Brian - The javascript experts in our department agreed that it would be dangerous, besides which, there is no support for it, but we wanted to give it a try as it would make the instructor's day if we could come through on it. I'll have to check with them about the playback because that may be where we got stuck, thinking it didn't work.

Matthew - I initially wanted to do just that, but the instructor is set on having this be a quiz.
