Arial Unicode MS Western (font issue)

May 08, 2023

Hello,

I have been facing issues with the Hindi translation file developed using the font Arial Unicode MS. Importing the translated Source file into the storyline the font changed into Arial Unicode MS Western. We search there is no font available in the Articulate and also does not support it.

So we changed the Arial Unicode MS Western font and to Arial Unicode MS. While this is somehow solved the issue, but there are still many discrepancies between the two versions.

We’re currently running Articulate version v3.73.29904.0 and it would be grateful if we will receive the resolution of this issue AQAP.

Please let us know if you have any suggestions or solutions that can help us in this situation.

Hello,

I understand the concerns you've been facing regarding the Hindi translation file and its compatibility with the Arial Unicode MS font in Articulate Storyline. Upon importing the translated source file, it appears that the font changes to Arial Unicode MS Western instead of remaining as Arial Unicode MS.

Unfortunately, Articulate does not support the Arial Unicode MS font, which is causing this discrepancy. You've mentioned that you tried changing the font from Arial Unicode MS Western to Arial Unicode MS to mitigate the issue, but there are still discrepancies between the two versions.

Given that you're currently using Articulate version v3.73.29904.0, it's essential to find a swift resolution for this problem. While I don't have real-time updates on the software's capabilities, I recommend reaching out to Articulate's customer support for assistance. They might have insights into potential workarounds or updates that could help resolve this font compatibility issue.

In the meantime, you could consider checking if alternative fonts are available in Articulate that might better suit the Hindi translation. Additionally, ensure that the translation file and Articulate software are both up to date, as updates often include bug fixes and improvements.

I hope you receive a prompt resolution to this font-related concern. If you have any further questions or if there's anything else I can assist you with, please feel free to let me know.

Hi Richard,

Happy to help!

We're currently tracking a known issue where accented characters in Arial Unicod MS are coming up in Calibri when exporting for translation in Word format. We'd like to test your project to confirm if you are being affected by this exact bug so we can notify you as soon as a fix is released.

Would you be willing to share a copy of your project file here or in private by opening a support case for testing? We'll delete it when we're done!

Thanks for the offer, but what you describe isn't what's happening on my end. I think the only solution will be to get the font because not having it causes problems with all types of exports. Unfortunately, I cannot share the files because they are proprietary and my client has previously stated sharing with ANY support group is a no-no.
