I've seen others in the community posing similar questions and have read up on some really awesome ideas that people have tried. I found this thread in particular to be very informative when it comes to Chatbots.
I also watched the demonstration in this article that someone wrote about embedding a chatbot into their course. So it definitely looks like something like this can be done and you can really customize and make it your own.
