Articulate (Storyline) Audio Editor 'Play' feature quits

Nov 26, 2013

Hey all - new to the forum. Will need to update my profile photo, as I am now missing several handfuls of hair after doing battle with the Articulate Audio Editor.

Prior to and after reinstalling the latest and greatest version of Storyline on my Windows XP machine, I continue to experience the following:

1) I record audio narration through the microphone using Storyline.

2) I replay and edit the audio in the Audio Editor dialogue.

3) After anywhere from three to seven recordings, the play button/spacebar function stops working.

Sometimes this can be remedied by restarting the program; sometimes it requires a full system reboot.

I'm lobbying with the higher ups for a more sophisticated audio editing tool, but for now this is all I have. I have verified my system requirements and run the Repair diagnostic as prescribed on one of the threads, but to no avail. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi Brent and welcome to Heroes!

Thanks for confirming that you've already checked the system requirements and conducted the initial repair.  Were you also able to conduct the repair of your supporting Windows software?

I'd also confirm that you're:

  • Working on your local drive (your C: drive).Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, includingfile corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory pathto your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters(for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents orsymbols in your file names.
Please review this article for more information about working on your local drive.
