I found a solution on another post Converted mp3 to mp4 but cannot insert it. Like that poster, I tried Format Factory and several other free converters, but kept getting a "does not appear to be a supported format" error message when inserting the mp4. The mp4 would work when I'd play it outside of Storyline.
The solution was to use Adobe Media Converter to convert the files from mp3 to mp4s. Once I did that, I was able to insert them without any trouble.
Wendy, I'll try using Replay to convert the files. Right now I'm using a free trial of Adobe Media Converter, but I already have Replay so that's a better option for me if it will work.
Thanks Jodi for linking to that other thread here and letting us know what you'll be able to do as an option and hopefully that helps Amra out as well.
You will need both an audio and video track in your .mp4 for Storyline to import it (even though it's only audio that you want). The video track can be blank, but it does need to be present. Once imported, you can hide the blank video with a box on top the same colour as the background.

Hi Jammin' that's what I ended up doing using an online converter :)
