Basic Layouts - "Clean", "Articulate"

Mar 03, 2014

Hello,

I am just getting started with Storyline, have taken several tutorials, and practiced a bit.  When choosing "Insert Slides", sometimes the "Basic Layouts" tab gives the option "Articulate", and sometimes just "Clean".  During the tutorials, the users have many other layouts they've created.

How can I...

(1) Create custom "Basic Layouts" so I can choose them from Insert Slides when I create a new project?

(2) Get the layouts entitled "Articulate" (see below) to always be a choice from Insert Slides?  If I open from a blank project, all I get is the "Clean" options.

Thanks!
Christine

Hi Christine and welcome to Heroes!

It looks like that you may have created an additional slide master or theme(Articulate) and that is what you're sharing in this image. You can set a theme as a default for inserting new slides as described in this tutorial on using slide masters.

You may also want to review this tutorial on how to create Storyline templates.

Hi Christine,

Let me second that welcome! I see that Ashley has already answered your question in terms of creating templates. Also, though, since you asked, " When choosing "Insert Slides", sometimes the "Basic Layouts" tab gives the option "Articulate", and sometimes just "Clean", I thought I'd point out where the Articulate template comes from.

It's automatically added to a .story if a new slide in the story had has been created from the 2 template sets that come with Storyline. You'll see these under "Template" in the Insert New Slides dialog box.
