we are inserting videos into Storyline, several of us using the same template, but for one course, black screens are displaying at the end of the video clips. The developer isn't seeing this behavior but it shows up when other people view. It isn't a matter of the timeline exceeding the video, as those match, and the black screen is not in the video itself.
Doesn't look like we ever got the chance to see Eileen's file. Any chance you could share your file here, or send it in confidentially? What format video are you using? Is it happening only in published versions, and if so, which browser(s)? Would love to be able to take a look at the file to learn more. Thanks!
Ahh, thanks for mentioning the iPad. Now I'm wondering if you may be experiencing the flickering issue we're working on getting fixed. Does this sound familiar?
And the case submission link will allow you to upload your file to our server, and I'll have access to it when you share your case number with me.
It does flicker in the beginning too, but the bigger concern is the screen going black at the end (only on iPad). We're calling it the 'blackout' problem. It seems like the two problems may be related.
I've already uploaded a file that has this same issue and have a case number that's related to this (Case Number: 00309305).
I haven't heard back with a solution from this case, but I can start a new one if you like.
OK, I'm seeing the case now. Looks you're working with Miker on this. He's currently testing the file you provided as we speak, so you should be hearing something from him soon...
Thanks for the tip. I've tried to superimpose a white rectangle over the video at the end to block out the black screen, however the black screen still appears. I'll try the image and let you know but I'm not hopreful.
I've not tested the video on an iPad yet, the black screen is happening in the preview in Storyline and when I publish the module and view it on my PC via our LMS.
Unfortunately, looking at the support cases from this thread, I do not have anything conclusive to share with you. These issues were related to Storyline 1 as well.
I would encourage you to share your .story file with our support team here so that we could have a look.
I am importing video I have created using Camtasia as MP4 files. Any edits I need to do to the video files I do in Camtasia and save, go to the slide where I’ve previously imported the video, cut it out, and reimport. When I do this, I see that Storyline has kept the timeline length to the original video length and sometimes I have to adjust this.
The reason why I’m including my import process is I wonder if there’s some connection between the subsequent imports of video and the black screen I am seeing at the end. I see this when I preview the slide as well as publishing to LMS and web.
The timeline will adjust if the new object is longer than the current timeline. However, it doesn't work the other way around.
Say your timeline is currently 2 minutes long and you add a new audio file that's only a minute and a half. The timeline isn't going to shrink down to the minute and a half time, because it was already set to a longer time. Storyline doesn't realize you're replacing an exiting video with a new one and new time, it's keeping the timeline time because it was set there for a reason initially - adjusting this downward would play badly if you had other objects on the timeline that went past the point of the new video.
If you put in videos that are shorter than the initial time, you'll want to click and drag the timeline so that it matches your video.

This has been bugging me for the past 2 weeks but I've finally found the solution to the problem...
1. Select your video in Storyline and select 'edit video'
2. Select 'trim'
3. Go to the end of your video in the timeline and cut your video a few frames from the end, making sure that the video still ends on the frame you want it to.
4. Select 'save and close' and preview. Your video should now end on the last frame

Welcome to Heroes, Eileen!
Are you able to send us your project so we can take a look and try to see what might be going on? Thanks!
I have the exact same problem. Was there every a resolution for it?

The original video format is mp4. It only happens when viewing it on iPad (HTML5). The same video/course looks great on a PC/IE platform.
The 'send it in confidentially' link looks pretty generic. If I use that method will the file go directly to you somehow?

On second thought, your issue sounds a bit different...

Hi there,
Did you find a solution to this problem? I'm also experiencing a black screen appearing at the end of videos.
Thanks
I normally right click show till end which fixes it
It's still a problem and unfortunately, the 'show till end' setting didn't help in my case.
Just read it is the iPad you may need to take an image of the last frame and add that to the slide

Hello Paul and welcome to Heroes!
Are you having this issue on iPad or desktop publishing?
I'm having it on a desktop computer
Hello Paul!
The support cases in this thread were directed at iPad use.
I want to make sure you are using the latest update of Storyline, found here.
You also may want to open a support case if you would like your file to be tested.
Hi,
Any luck with how to resolve this black screen at the end of videos in SL2?
I am having the same problem and the project I am working on has a bunch of videos. I am not working on an iPad - regular desktop.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Has there been any resolution to this? I am seeing this now. There's no rhyme or reason to this.
Hi Robert! As you can see from my last response, I do not have conclusive information to share.
Can you share what version/update you are using of Storyline and how you are publishing/viewing the content?
HI Leslie:
Thanks for the quick reply.
I am using Storyline 2 (update 6 1507.2315).
I am importing video I have created using Camtasia as MP4 files.
