Bookmarking Not Working

Feb 11, 2021

Hi,

I am new to this and learning as I go. I have my course finished and on my LMS. I have the course setting for bookmarking set to "prompt to resume". However, it is not working in my LMS? Also, is there a way to have the course not play until the play button is selected?

Hi, Katie!

Sorry to hear about the bookmarking issue in your LMS. Let me see what I can do to help.

  • Instead of resuming to the last slide of the course, what happens?
  • Do you experience the same issue when you visit the course in another environment or browser?
  • Which SCORM version (1.2, 2004, etc.) have you published to?

For now, do you mind checking if 'prompt to resume' behaves in the same way when you test your course in SCORM cloud so we can confirm if this is isolated to your LMS tool?

With regard to not automatically playing your course, there doesn't seem to be a single setting that can do this but there's a fantastic workaround here using layers and triggers. It was obviously done on an older Storyline version but the same settings are available in Storyline 360 and Storyline 3.

I hope to hear again from you so we can work on this together!

Hi, I posted a very similar question a few days ago. On digging around I have found a likely cause. If you are using Edge or Chrome this helped https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftedge/forum/all/moodle-centrally-set-allows-synchronous-xhr/0c9afb1d-09aa-48f3-bc58-42342b94ef3c . The issue appears to be caused by the learner closing down the browser window when they are part way through the course. It appears that the progress is not being sent back to Moodle, or in our case Totara. To get around this I have added a trigger to the player that saves and exits the course. This allows progress to be saved. If the learner completes the course in one sitting the completion appears to be successfully sent back without the need for the save an exit.

Hope this helps.
