Branched quizzes

Mar 08, 2024

I have a course with several branches and each branch has quizzes, that together, form the final grade for the course.

  • A preferred language, 1-question, "Combined" Knowledge Check and a Results slide that branches to English, French, or Spanish branches.
  • Each one of those 3 preferred language branches has a menu with 4 product branches, each with a "Combined" Knowledge Check and a Results page of their own. (I check to ensure the student passes all 4 of those quizzes before being routed to a results slide that considers the 5 -- 1 language preference and 4 product "Combined" Knowledge Checks -- as the total score for the course.)

The Quiz.ScorePercent variable for the language knowledge check and each of the 4 product knowledge checks displays properly and each questions' answer data is passed to the LMS as expected. The results slide that calculates the results for the 5 results slides in that language branch also can display the Quiz.ScorePercent variable values for each results page based on the points for each quiz.

I can't get the course score (Quiz.ScorePercent) to be communicated to the LMS when SubmitResults is triggered in that last result slide. I must've messed up somewhere.

Why isn't the overall score for the course communicated to the LMS as it would be for any other terminal course Results slide?

Is there any documentation on what the SubmitResults trigger does?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Al!

It sounds like your quiz scores aren't being reported to your LMS!

I see that you've already opened a support case as well. Smart move! You're in excellent hands troubleshooting one-on-one with our support engineers and they should be following up with you shortly.

In the meantime, for your reference, this article goes into detail on 'Submit Results' Triggers. Which are generated on pre-checks and final assessments. And quizzes with “submit results” triggers are automatically added to your LMS/LRS tracking options, allowing Storyline 360 to send results to your LMS/LRS for the first quiz each learner completes.

Also, if quiz results are not being communicated to your LMS, a helpful step would be to test the behavior with SCORM Cloud. This can help pinpoint if an issue lies with a .story file, or the LMS itself.

We can continue the conversation through your case to keep all information in one spot.
