Check the "Blank" Feedback Master layout, which is used for layers. It may have a semi-transparent background color or shape that's dimming the base. If so, adjust the layout.
If that's not the problem, you should upload the file for troubleshooting. (Or, at least, upload a copy with just one slide that shows the problem.)
