Button issues on base layer after Lightbox is viewed and closed

Apr 08, 2016

Hello!

I have a rather confusing situation....I have a button on base layer with an inserted graphic in it.  I have the button with text grouped with the graphic (a question mark).  I have 2 states: Normal and Hover.  These states work fine when the slide is first loaded from a timeline and viewed. However, once the user clicks on the button (with the question mark graphic), views the Lightbox, and closes the Lightbox, only the graphic is showing (and not the button with the text). But when you hover over it again, the hover state of the button returns (including graphic) and when you move off the button, the normal state is there again!

Does anyone have any thoughts as to how to fix this issue?

Thank you in advance for any help!

Best,

Birgit

Hi Birgit,

Thanks for letting me take a look at your file. I saw the behavior you were reporting, and looked at editing the item but it didn't show as a grouped item for me, so I wasn't sure how you added in the "?" as it wasn't also set to be a button? I tried importing it into a new project and it broke that item completely and moved the "?" outside of the box. I looked at a  new copy of your project using a built in button and icon - and that one behaved as expected and is attached here. Can you tell us more about how you created your button/group set up so that we can try and recreate more closely? Or you could look at using the built in Button and modifying from there.

Yup - that makes sense Birgit, thanks for sharing here. I took a look at your file again, and tried adding it directly to the slide and then grouping the items on the slide (adjusting the state of the checkmark and the text box separately) and I saw the same thing. Again, on my test file I shared I also did the same by adding a shape (vs. before I just used a button icon) and adjusting the state and that one worked correctly still. I'd want to confirm that you're working on project files as described here and then also look at rebuilding that object using either buttons with added shapes or the built in icons.

Yup - and you'll need to adjust the state of each item (the button and the checkmark) once you've grouped them. Or you could always adjust just the state/color of the button and leave the checkmark color the same - totally depends on what you need for look and feel. I'd also take a look at doing so in a new project just to confirm it's not anything project specific.
