Can I click to leave markers on an image???

Jul 11, 2014

Hi

I have a slide that I need to create and would be grateful for some advice on how to achieve it.

I have a letter (saved as a jpeg image) that has seven mistakes on it. On the slide I wish to create, I need the user to be able to put markers down where they believe the mistakes to be and the click submit to find out if they were correct or not.

So basically, I need to be able to click 7 times on an image (leaving markers) and then submit my answer.

Is this possible? If so, how do I achieve it? If not, could anyone suggest an alternative way of doing this?

Many thanks.

Jon

You could also do it with Hotspots. This example has two slides:

In the first, clicking words starting with "L" increments a variable (and the variables are displayed so you can see it working).

In the second, the increment triggers have been replaced with triggers to make a circle appear around the appropriate word.

I put a big hotspot behind the L-word hotspots for two reasons:

1) To track "wrong answers" (i.e. clicking the text where you shouldn't) and

2) So that the cursor is a pointy-hand in the entire text (instead of just when pointing at a correct answer).

You can get fancier; for example, you could put a hotspot and trigger on every word, so clicking ANYTHING circles it (I don't recommend this unless it's a very short text).

Also, you said you wanted feedback on the correct answer. Clicking a "submit" button could display the correct answers and conditionally display either a "Correct" or "Incorrect" message based on the states of the red circles.

Hi Jon

have a look at the story file in the attachment. There's an example of 2 markers/buttons (but you can add as many as you want) which need to be dropped on the mistakes hidden among text (you can replace it with your image).

Good luck

Hi thanks for your reply, I need be able to drop any marker to any mistake though, as the user may not see the mistakes in the correct order. Is there a way I can do that?

Thanks again
