Can't save project. Low on memory

Sep 04, 2014

Hello,

Last week I was working on a project and I tried to save it after working on it for several hours. But I got this message:

"The project file could not be saved. Your system seams to be low on memory. Please close any other program and try again".

I closed all the programs, but still wasn't able to save my project. So I called the company helpdesk. They logged onto my system, but couldn't help me either. We looked at the amount of memory Storyline was using and it was at 923.916 kb. I have 4 gb of memory onboard.

I noticed today, as I was working on another project that during the day the amount of memory being used increases.

The IT specialist offered to built in 4 gb extra memory, but I am not sure that is going to solve the problem. Can you give advice?

I put in some screenshots of last week, made by our helpdesk.

Thanks,

Angelina

Hi Jennifer,

Storyline 2 has an auto recovery feature for a crash of the software, but not an auto save feature which has been a conscious choice on Articulate's part based on auto save potentially causing issues with if you needed to go back or revert work you'd previously done. (This is discussed in some length by a number of super heroes here).

If there are unsaved pending changes, an auto recover file is created for the project under the /AppData/Roaming/Articulate/Storyline path. This auto recover file is named using a format like this:
<name of the file without.story extension><creation time stamp of the file>.tmp

So if you were working on a file called "my sample story.story" the auto recovery name might look like "my sample story635502380729253410.tmp". You'll then just rename it to include the .story extension.
