Can we add a time limit for each question in articulate storyline?

yes there is the options to have a timer for the quiz. But this is for whole quiz section. I want to give timer to each question.

For example: 1 min for each question.

yes it is..but if you had 10 questions in the quiz you could set the timer for 10 minutes

I would set the timeline for each quiz question to 60 secs and then change the slide options from Slide Advance (By User) to (Automatically) - I tested it with 2 slides set at 10 secs and it worked.  The timer in the top right hand corner counts down and it moves to next slide after the 10 secs if I haven't answered

Leslie, thank you for the quick response. Is there a way to set the timer per slide per question? For example, I want to give them 10 seconds per slide, when it moves from Slide 1 to Slide 2, the timer resets and starts counting from zero again  versus :11, etc.?

Hi Katie! There is not a built-in way to change the look of the timer, but you could try Wendy's solution shared above with the auto-advance to 'time the user out'.

I have done that with the timer, but was wanting to show a countdown timer for each question. 

I know there is a creative workaround here that was specific to multiple choice questions. Perhaps that will spark an idea or someone in the community will be able to further assist you with your design.

I had actually built something similar to that, but was just looking for a timer so the user would see how much time was elapsing per slide. Obviously, the other timer does the same thing, I was hoping there was one that would start over.

I found this thread when looking for how to add a time limit for each question in Articulate Storyline. I did as Wendy Farmer suggested above, which works well, I also set the timeline for each quiz question to 60 secs.

However, I encounter problems on my result page. When you have passed the test, you will be asked if you want to review your answers. Since I changed the slide option from Slide Advance (By User) to (Automatically), you now have to wait 60 secs for each question before moving on to the next question when reviewing. The next and previous buttons do not work. Do you have any suggestion on what I can do so that you can click through the review part without having to wait 60 secs for each question?

workarounds can sometimes introduce limitations but let’s think about this - is there an opportunity to use a custom review layer that has a next button on it to move them through the slides?
