Can you change where the closed captioning appears in the player?

Jan 30, 2024

My closed captioning is covering up information on the slide and not allowing learners to access a clickable content.

Can the captions move or be placed where is does not appear on top of my slide?

Hi Sarah and Abby,

I have some great news to share. We just released another update for Storyline 360. In Update 86, we’ve included important fixes and new features.

One of the new features we’ve included:

  • Position captions at the top or bottom of the slide to ensure closed caption visibility and prevent the obstruction of critical course content.

Launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer to take advantage of this update, and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You’ll find our step-by-step instructions here.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Sarah!

Great question!

Currently, the placement of closed captions in Storyline cannot be adjusted. However, we are tracking a feature request to give authors that ability! I've linked this discussion to the feature report and will provide updates as soon as we have news to share.

If you'd like to stay up to date, you can bookmark our Feature Roadmap.

Hi,

I appreciate the additional features for captions.

Has anyone experienced the captions being bolded in preview mode and Review 360? I didn't bold them manually. This is happening using the default setting for regular text.

Occasionally, the captions are not bolded from a certain point forward in my project when I review it in preview mode.

I haven't published it to the LMS yet. Very curious if anyone else has experienced this.

I appreciate any insight - thanks!

Hi Karen,

We're not seeing this issue being reported by other users but I'll be happy to look into this for you. Have tried repairing your Storyline 360 installation to see if this fixes the issue? If the issue persists, please share a copy of your project file here or in private by opening a support case so we can take a closer look at what's happening. We'll delete it when we're done testing!
