Can you use Javascript triggers with Storyline to Resize Player Window?

Apr 22, 2016

Hello,

I've been becoming familiar with using Javascript triggers in Storyline lately. We have a video that requires the user to downsize the video while an audio plays, and interacts with other software on the computer while the audio is playing. Currently, we have our users using ALT+TAB to flip between the Player and the Software they are interacting with. This is less than ideal. What we'd like to have happen, is once the user presses play on the audio in the player,  there's a delay of a few seconds, and the player minimizes. Once the audio completes, the player will re-maximize itself. One of the topics I came across listed a 'player.Maximize();' function, but with no parameters listed, I can't seem to get it to work. The post also doesn't seem to mention a player.Minimize option either.

Here's the post I am referencing:

Does anyone have any thoughts on how we could set the player/window to resize? I also tried the Javascript function window.ResizeTo(), but that did not work either.

Thanks!

Hi Sam,

The use of Javascript is not something I'm equipped to support, and our general best practices are detailed here. Also, there isn't a built in way to access player elements from a trigger and I suspect that particular browsers and how they handle security may not work well with the triggers to minimize a window if you're able to set them up - but I'll be curious to see what other thoughts or ideas the community has to offer.
