I used Storyline several years ago and saved my files. When I tried to open them in Storyline 360, I received a prompt stating that the file would be upgraded and a backup would be saved if I clicked "yes". Once the process completed, the file was blank. I tried it with another file and the same thing happened. How can I fix this?
Well, that's certainly not the behavior that we want you to see. Since it is happening across multiple files, curious if a repair to your software would assist.
If you'd like us to take a look and try to upgrade, please feel free to share one of the original or backup files for us to upgrade.
I am coming of a 3 year retirement and am not able to open my old files. I have been trying to put my portfolio up again using google docs and cannot seem to open my old files. I'd love to convert them to the new Storyline, if possible.
I am not sure how to upload an old course here for you to view, but I have a few I could show you. Please advise me as to how to continue.
Welcome back?! Sorry to hear that you're unable to open your files, but I'd be happy to help you. I'm not sure if you're hitting an error similar to the original author here or what specific issue you're experiencing.
What version of Storyline are you currently using?
Do you have the .story file for your old files?
I'd be happy to take a look at one of the .story files in question if needed. You can attach it to your reply in the forum:
Yes. The .story file that you shared works for me. I was able to open this file using Storyline 360. I also use a Mac with Parallels.
You can open a file multiple ways, but here are two:
When your Storyline 360 window is first opened, Browse for more... button in the bottom left and then browse to your .story file:
If you already have Storyline 360 open, then you can use File > Open and then browse to your .story file:
If you are unable to navigate to your .story files from Storyline, you may have a file permissions issue between your Mac and Parallels, and your IT team should be able to help with that.
All of your project files will need to have the .story file type in order to open and edit in Storyline.
If you track down your story.html files as you also demonstrated above, that file folder will typically hold the same name as your .story file if you need to further search.

Hi Leslie,
Thank you so much for your help. I actually am having quite a few problems (like finding the right file to click to open my Storyline).
I have been with Articulate since its inception, honestly. Which means, I have all sorts of different storylines and I am not sure what is what.
I remember right before I left that folks needed to rename files in order to bring them into Storyline 360, but I missed all of that.
Which piece of storyline do I choose to attach?
I appreciate your help.
Denise
Do these work?
I am working on a macbook pro with Windows 10 and parallels, which might be the entire problem, lol.

Hi Leslie,
Thank you so much for the help. I really appreciate it.
Another question...
What other types of files can I search for besides ".story" that will open the storyline file so I can convert it over to the newer version?
Thank you so much. I really appreciate it!
Denise

Got it. Search for the .story file and open it in Articulate 360.
Thank you sooo much! I really appreciate your help!!
