When I record my screen and add it as View, Test, Try slides in Storyline, the default duration for each slides is around 4 secs. I would like to shorten that but cannot find a way to adjust it in either the Master Template, or across all slides at once. Does anyone know of a solution perhaps? Thanks!
Hi Steven. Sorry, it took some time to come back to this request. I tried what you recommended, but this does not really solve the problem. I would like to use the Storyline Screen Capture and View Mode to record my screen. Then I would like to change the default settings for my project when the slides are imported into Storyline. The playtime for each slide is around 4,5 seconds (I find it too long). Furthermore, a click sound plays on a mouse action. How can I change these settings (and others) without editing each slide separately? I have tried controlling some features in a Custom Theme and the Slide Master but the timeline and mouse actions are not customizable there. Or am I missing somehting?
I'm sorry to hear that you're still experiencing this issue. With your permission, I'd like to take a look at your project to take a closer look at what's going on. You can upload it here or share it privately in a support case. We'll delete it from our systems once troubleshooting is complete.
Hi Kelly. There is no issue with the software. I'm asking whether or not it is possible to change the default settings for the format when I do a screen capture and then import it as slides. I am not happy with the default settings of Storyline. I can send you my project, but you can make one yourself by opening Storyline > Record Screen > Insert Step-by-Step Slides > View Mode. The timeline automatically defaults to 5 sec per slide (too long in my opinion) click sound for mouse action (unnecessary) and aqua,#ADD8E6, overlay for the hotspot (not the right colour for our CI). How can I change this across all slides at once, or in my Master template or default styles?
Great question! I'm happy to jump in here! I understand you'd like to change the duration per slide, the click sound, and the color of the hotspot in the Insert recording defaults or across multiple slides at once.
For the click sound, we currently have this logged as a feature request, so I’ll go ahead and include your voice. We’ll update this discussion if there's any news to share about this feature.
For changing the slide duration and the hotspot color, you'll want to continue to change those on each slide. When don't, currently, have the option to change those options in the defaults or in the Slide Masters but those are interesting ideas that I can share with our product team.
Hi John. Thanks for letting me know what the potential and limitations of Storyline are. For now I'll continue doing slide-by-slide editing. I'll keep an eye out for future updates. All the best everyone.

Hi Lianca!
It sounds like you needed some help editing your screen recordings after importing them to your Storyline course. I'd be happy to help!
One method you could try would be to edit the starting/ending frames for the slides via the Action Fine Tuning tool. This comes in handy when you need to cut out a mistake or remove an unnecessary step. This resource walks you through the process of how to accomplish that.
Please keep in mind that if your screen recordings contain audio playback you might risk cutting that out of your slides as well.
I also wanted to share an extra article related to the editing of screen recordings:
Please let me know if this works for you or if you have any more questions!

Here is a video I recorded explaining what I mean.
