I have been working with Articulate Storyline 2 in LMS format and have noticed that the SCORM Report only records up to 255 characters when I have text input. Anyone know how to change this?
What SCORM option are you using to publish? I feel like I've heard other users mention that SCORM 2004 works better than SCORM 1.2 - also, that'll help with the overall data limits as detailed here.
I'm using SCORM 1.2. Even when I tested it on SCORM Cloud it's only recording 255 characters, still no where near 4,096 characters as stated in that link. Do you know what's going wrong?
The 4,096 is the overall data suspend limit - but it sounds like you're seeing the recorded elements of a student response with the 255 characters? That is a specification of SCORM based on which option you're using to publish. You may want to read a bit more information about the different SCORM technical specifications here.
I am having the same problem. When I publish to 1.2 =, it only record 255 characters and when I published to 2004, it did not record anything. I am using AS2 and Moodle 2.7.
I've recently run into this problem and here's how I managed to solve it.
In Moodle, go to Site Administration -> Plugins -> Activity Modules -> Scorm Package -> Under 'Admin Settings', deselect the option 'Enable SCORM 1.2 standard mode'. This option enforces the 255 characters limitation. Et voila, you're done.

Hi Yang! Perhaps the limitation you're running into lies within Moodle. I know I've seen mention of this, although dated, before here.

Hi Darine and welcome to E-Learning Heroes :)
Thanks for popping in to share your solution with the community.
From my testing, publishing in SCORM 2004 solves the character limit. See more detail in this thread.
I'm using Saba as my LMS, and it did not respond to making changes in the SCORMFunctions.js file as outlined in that post.
