Completion documentation without LMS

Feb 10, 2021

I would be interested in hearing what methods you all use to obtain and record completion documentation for your Storyline 360 courses (without the use of an LMS).  Background - I am a volunteer teacher and cover all my expenses related to my teaching.

Thank you,

Robin

Hi, Robin,

I recently came across this article about tracking without an LMS:

https://www.devlinpeck.com/posts/track-elearning-without-lms

Another option would be to create a Certificate of Completion slide at the end of the course. Then have the learner print the slide (search for the Forum for that info) or just take a screenshot of it. Then they'd have to email that proof to you. It's a clumsy solution, but it would work.

Best wishes!

Hello Robin,

In addition to Judy's answer, I think it would be very interesting for you to consider a solution like ClueLabs.

The DataCloud Widget is really incredible: https://cluelabs.com/data-cloud-elearning-widget.html

It is free and if you need a lot of data, the price is really very interesting.

I discovered this tool and I find it's a real game changer when you don't have an LMS.

Thank you and have a nice day

Hello Robin,

It is with pleasure! Concerning the DataCloud solution, 1000 API calls cost $1 per month (and there are 100 free calls per month).

If I do the calculation with the information you give for a term, you have 600 modules completed per term (30 * 20 = 600).

Let's say there are 2 API calls per completed module (ID + Note), this gives you 1200 API calls per quarter (600 * 2 = 1200).

This makes 400 per month (1200 / 3 = 400)

I believe the price is $1 minimum, so it should be $1 per month (and add data storage fees if you wish).

Here are the details of the prices: https://cluelabs.com/stencil/pricing#pricing_datacloud

I hope that my estimation are good and that it will help you.

Thank you and have a nice day
