Conditionally display quiz questions

Apr 27, 2023

Hi,

I teach sales training to reps from different channels such as retail, call center, direct sales, etc. We're creating a new hire program that teaches universal content that applies to all channels and includes branches to content that's specific to a channel, such as the retail cash register system. I would like to create one master quiz at the end that displays questions about the cash register system ONLY to retail students. I can't figure out a way to conditionally display a set of quiz questions -- other than having a separate quiz.

For example, suppose I assign a variable at the beginning that says Choose Sales Channel. Is there a way to display certain quiz slides only when Retail = 1 or True?

For simplicity, I suggest first showing the set of questions that everyone has to answer. On the last question in that set, use conditional triggers to steer the learner to the appropriate questions.

For example, on the button(s) to advance (e.g., the Continue buttons on the Correct and Incorrect layers, if you're providing immediate feedback), there could be a trigger that jumps to the Retail question with the condition that the Retail variable = True. Similar triggers could be used for the other channels.

On the Results slide, be sure to adjust the quiz settings so the program only scores the questions that were viewed:

FYI: The navigation triggers could get tricky if you want to let the users review the quiz. In that case, it might actually be easier to use separate Results slides. Then you could use the Quiz Settings Options to indicate which questions are scored for that Results slide, and the program should automatically step through only those questions during a Review.
