Controlling the Tab

Jun 23, 2021

Hi all,

I am trying to build a few slides that can be navigated without the mouse.  The tab key works great for most of this but there are some slides with elements that I would prefer the tab key skip and/or I would like to control the order of where the tab key goes on click.

Is there a way to do either of these?

Thank you!

Hello A.H.,

I thought that your thought would be a fantastic add on to have for some of my slides that I am currently creating as well, with some browsing I found this fantastic thread where Matthew Bibby goes into adding a text variable to storyline called keypress. He goes into the formatting of Java script and exactly what strings to use to get the tab key to function in ways that you set. I really hope this helps you to solve your issue and you have a wonderful rest of your day

Thank you for the response Dustin - I am not sure if what Matthew provided is exactly what I am hoping for.  Though to be fair, I really didn't understand large portions of it.  I was hoping for a simpler solution.

Do you know if there is a way to tell the tab only go to specific elements in sequence?  If that is what Matthew's explanation was intended to do then I understood even less than I thought I did. :-)

Thanks again for the response!

A.H. sorry about the delayed response. I was playing around with a presentation I was working on an I wanted to make sure I was getting exactly what you were talking about. Your talking about trying to change the tab/skip/next order correct? Let me ask my colleges and see if they have any ideas and in the meantime it might not be a bad idea to see if they could maybe add an easier option here as I'm thinking that's not a feature yet even though there may be a workaround.
