Course is Pushed Off to the Right on iPad (Preview is Fine)

Feb 18, 2019

We have a course which displays fine whenever we:

  • preview in Storyline (both normal and tablet views)
  • launch the course on a PC

However, when we launch the course on an iPad, we're seeing extra white space on the left-hand side which is pushing the course off to the right so that it's partially cut off (screenshots attached).  Not only does this look bad, it cuts off the navigation buttons, making the course unusable on our store iPads.

I've tried this with the menu links disabled, and I get the same result.

We were able to create a workaround using the "Launch player in new window" option and then forcing it to resize browser to fill screen, but we were wondering if anybody knew what could be causing our course to be pushed off to the right.

Course resolution is 1280 x 720.

Attached screenshots show:

  • What it's supposed to look like (IMG_0051)
  • What it actually looks like (IMG_0052)
  • How it previews in Storyline

Would appreciate any suggestions.

Hey, Brian. Thank you for sharing those screenshots!

That iPad display does look odd – very sorry if it's slowing you down. I'd love to help investigate, and have a few questions to start:

  • What version of Storyline are you using? You can find this detail by clicking on the Help tab, then About Storyline.
  • Does this issue also appear in Chrome?
  • Have you had a chance to see if the content loads correctly in another LMS like SCORM Cloud? With your permission, I can help you test the .story in a similar environment. You can share it publicly here, or send it to me privately by using this upload link. I'll delete it once we nail down the culprit!
