Course screen larger than Browser window
Jan 29, 2013
Having a problem with IE8 and Storyline.
The course screen fits correctly when viewed in Storyline preview but is too large when the learner actually launches the course from the web site. Generally, the PREV and NEXT buttons are hidden at first view.
I tried different combinations of the settings, but it doesn't seem to make any difference.
I searched for Browser size in the Storyline archives, but don't see this exact dilemma.
Currently, I have these settings
Browser size: Resize browser to optimal size
Player size: Lock player at optimal size
(Had to reduce View to 88% to fit into browser window)
Have also tried
Browser size; Display at user's current browser size
Player size: Scale player to fill browser window
(In this case, if they maxixmize the window they can see the buttons)
What am I doing wrong here?

Hi Judith!
Mind sending us the .story file so we can test it out on our end? Thanks!
Don't you already have about 5 copies of my story file?
OK, I'll send you the latest one.
Thanks.
Thanks, Judith
Hello, Judith, try the following setting:
Browser size: Resize browser to fill screen
Player size: Scale player to fill brower window
Thanks, Jon, but I don't want to force the learner to completely give up their screen to the course.
The best settings so far are
Browser size; Display at user's current browser size
Player size: Scale player to fill browser window
And with the addition of
Launch player in new window
Allow user to resize browser
the user has a reasonable amount of control.
Peter, this is an acceptable outcome -- thanks for the support.
Judith, glad to know you have solved the problem.
I've also seen some odd behavior if the browser has a zoom setting of over 100%, but I think this issue is really a function of the LMS. Note that if an LMS is launching the lesson, then the LMS may be setting up a window for Storyline to fill which could be larger than the screen.
