Course with video does not work when published

Dec 01, 2015

I'm having numerous issues with a course I created in Storyline 2.  Most of the course contains numerous, short MP4 video clips with audio inserted as well.  When I preview the course in Storyline, everything works fine.

When I publish the course to SCORM and upload it to our LMS, it crashes as soon as the first video slide appears and displays an error icon.

When I publish this to HTML and view it, then it plays the video, but does not play the separate music file to go with the video; however, it will play the other sound effects I've placed in the same slide with the video.  This happens each time on the first video slide when I view it in the HTML5 version.  When I play it in the regular HTML version, I get a white screen instead of the video that should be playing.

I've also published this to CD and previewed the executable file and have run into issues when I try to insert that into an online course type in our LMS.  It won't play.

I don't have any issues with any of our other Storyline courses that contain video that we upload to our  LMS so I'm not sure why this one is causing so many problems.  Do you have any idea why the course works well when I preview it in Storyline, but does not work correctly in any format when I publish it?

Hi, LeAnn -- Thanks for your question, and sorry to hear you are having issues! As this pertains to an LMS, have you tested your course in the SCORM Cloud? You may also find these links on troubleshooting LMS issue to be helpful:

If you do not see the same issues when testing in SCORM Cloud, it may be a good idea to reach out to your LMS provider directly. You may also want to review this general info on Publishing and Sharing SL2 Content. Hope that helps, and please let us know if issues persist! :)

Thank you for your reply.  I have tested this in SCORM Cloud and came across the same issue, but on a different slide this time.  My first video played just fine, but the second one popped up and error icon (see the attached) which looked exactly like the error I received from our LMS.

I'm also concerned with the other publishing issues and course behaviors I ran into as well, besides the LMS issue (which is most important).

For now, I will try to recreate the videos in another program and then add the finished project to my story and see how that works.
