Crashes When Trying to Insert New Slide

Instead of a repair I would do an uninstall and reinstall, rebooting in between.  If that doesn't fix it, it really is time to contact support.

I know its been basically a year since this has been created, but you went off to support and never posted a solution which I assume you got. Any chance of sharing the knowledge mate? I'm in the same boat. I've started a support ticket, but what was suggested did not work.

If you are working with support, I encourage you to reply and continue working with them.

I am working with support, they have stopped answering me after they requested log files. Very frustrating, seems people who had this issue before just gave up.

I'm sorry you're running into this issue when inserting a quiz slide! Are you using Storyline 360? Also, are you finding this happens with every project or just the project you're currently working on?
