Customizing Storyline 2

Mar 15, 2017

Hi,

I am using Storyline 2's Quiz feature, the Pick Many under the Survey option, to create an assessment. There are no right/wrong answers. We need the survey to calculate a total of the boxes checked across several slides. I set up the Results Report to include Printing ability. What I can't find is whether you can customize the report to look and include what you want? All it shows is the questions checked per slide. It is hard to read. I need to format it and include the custom summary the user gets on the Results slide. Has anyone been able to do this?

Hi Sue,

I'm not sure what you mean - the report.html file is a part of the output and it'll be automatically generated when you publish and you've included the print results as an option on your results slide. It's the part of the published output that folks often use to make a certificate or something that they can customize to indicate a user completed the course.

I see what he is doing in the video. It isn't what we need to do. I need to get the Printed output to include all questions and which were checked (all are checkbox), then include the total points and custom message that goes with it. I've read other Forum posts and found that two different Blog posts by the eLearning Brothers', one including their print widget seem to allow you to print slides. Now, I'm trying to figure out if the other post from 8/4/13 on How to Make a Printable Results Page, found here will work. It, too, addresses a somewhat different scenario with a text FAQ.

Hi,

I believe this question is something Articulate supports: To have all of the text of the checkbox questions and the user's responses display on a custom results page, I am using a blank Results screen and thinking I could trigger the list of questions checked and those not checked via variables. What I'm not sure of is:

a) Whether I need to copy/paste all the question text manually

b) Whether the variables can differentiate the questions individually or can only deal with the group of questions in the Pick Many object on each page, which I've re-named uniquely on each page if this is the case.

c) Whether the trigger to associate the variables with the questions having been Visited or the pages' Next buttons having been Selected?

Can you please clarify if I'm on the right track? I think I can deal with getting the custom report to print this screen from there. Thanks SO much!

Hi Sue,

I think I'm following your description, but you may want to share a copy of your .story file so that folks could weigh in on that specifically.

The question text isn't held in a variable, so you'd need to enter it manually on the slide.

I'd use the state of the checkbox to indicate the change to the variable, and you'll want to change it on that slide where the user clicked on those things. Then once you have the variable values set you can choose to display them anywhere.

Hope that helps - and best of luck with your project!
